In Found, both occupancy and invoicing are managed by day, not by night. This means a resident is considered to be occupying a room for each full day they are present, inclusive of their last day within the home, and invoices reflect this daily usage as care fee days.
What does "day-based" occupancy mean?
Day-based occupancy and invoicing refers to managing room usage and charges by full calendar days, rather than by nights. This means that a resident is considered to occupy a room for each full day they are booked between their booking start date and booking end date. Corresponding charges are applied per day of occupancy.
This day-based approach ensures consistency across all areas of the platform, including invoicing, reporting, and room availability. It’s important to keep this logic in mind when managing admissions, departures, and billing schedules within Found.
Example scenario
Resident A – Departure
- Name: John Smith
- Booking Start Date: 12th April
- Booking End Date: 2nd May
How Found interprets this:
- John’s last day of occupancy is 2nd May.
- He is billed for 2nd May because occupancy is calculated by full calendar days.
- His room remains occupied on 2nd May
- No new resident can move into that room on 2nd May.
Resident B – Admission
- Name: Mary Jones
- Booking Start Date: 3rd May
How Found handles it:
- Mary can move in on 3rd May, the day after John’s final occupancy date.
- Her invoice schedule will begin on 3rd May.
- There is no overlap or conflict in room occupancy or billing. Furthermore, the product will not allow for there to be overlap or conflicts.
